High-Efficiency Gas Furnace
Designed with Your Comfort in Mind
Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency or AFUE is like gas mileage. The higher the gas mileage or AFUE rating, the more efficient the automobile or system is. While an ordinary furnace will consume 625 watts of electricity during heating operation, most Infinity™ 96 models use less than a 100-watt light bulb.
- As the world’s most energy efficient furnace, the Infinity™ 96 has a rating of up to 96.6 AFUE, helping to reduce your utility costs by up to 36% over the year. Actual savings will depend on the efficiency of your current system compared to the efficiency of a new system.
- A model (58UVB) achieving 95.0 AFUE efficiency is available in all sizes, thus qualifying for the federal energy tax credit.
- As an ENERGY STAR® partner, Carrier Corporation has determined that the Infinity™ 96 gas furnace meets the ENERGY STAR guidelines for energy efficiency.

To use this table:
1. Determine the AFUE/SEER of your
current system.
2. From the map determine the zone you
live in, enter the table and cross
reference your zone with the AFUE/SEER
of your current system to determine your
approximate annual heating/cooling
costs.
3. Compare your annual heating/cooling
cost to that of a new system with a
higher AFUE/SEER.
4. The difference of these two numbers is
your estimated annual cost savings.
5. Heating and cooling costs include
cycled fan operation. Fan costs are for
fans set in ON position to run
continuously. Subtract fan cost from
total cost if unit
Costs in this table are based on a 50,000 Btuh design heating requirement using an average fuel rate of $0.626 per therm and a nominal 3-ton air conditioner using an average electric rate of $0.0867 per kilowatt-hour.
* a variable speed furnace improves air conditioning efficiency, allowing a 12.0 SEER system to operate as efficiently as a 13.0 SEER system due to the electrical efficiency.
The above calculations are approximations. A more thorough analysis should be done by your dealer.
